MAJOR TRAITS
Mariposa Saloon is positioned in the entrance of the park where guests leave a train and become immersed in into Sweetwater. Foot traffic is high and Maeve acts as a madam for both brothel and saloon, greeting guests and luring them into sexual services for the more daring. This skill ties closely with her SENSUALITY at an 18. It is her job to be endearing to guests, encouraging them to drink and partake in the sin the saloon offers as their first exposure into Westworld's immersive narrative. Maeve's charm is high, which allows her to converse with people naturally. She is quoted as saying she's built to read people and she does so with such skill — able to adapt to different personalities of guests on the fly showing sincerity or boldness when the time called for it. Even outside of her role as a host, when she awakens her charm is one of the few things that keeps her motives ongoing. By reading into the good-nature of Felix, one of the technicians working on her repairs, she was able to convince him to assist in her aid by changing her actions from aggressive to sincere. Her charm is one of the reasons she is able to adapt so well.
One of the things that weaves into Maeve's interactions is her wicked tongue. The woman is unable to be subtle, instead finding bold euphemisms and sayings to get her point across. She is street smart, knowing how to bluff, grift, and challenge those who threaten her ideals. Maeve's candor is high, allowing her to be open about her intentions if need be or frank enough to threaten others into going along with her goals.
While not a huge stat, she changed her cruelty from 1 to 10, allowing her to be more vicious in her pursuit of freedom. She has no qualms about killing or harming, often suffering herself from the need to be cruel to escape Westworld. This allows her to think pessimistically and act in aggressive ways — tying closely with her AGGRESSION stat, which is maxed to 20. This trait can be construed as negative, as it puts her in conflict with others who do not share her goals or deem themselves useful. She will dub them as expendable, having no second thought on their sacrifice or elimination. This ties closely to her LOYALTY trait which was decreased from a 16 to a 10. Of course, that isn't to say she does not value people. Her circle of friends and allies are small, however.
Maeve made changes to her self-preservation from a 10 to a 20, allowing her to find any means to survive necessary. This is a negative in the sense that she seemingly is willing to leave her "daughter" so she may proceed to the mainland. Maeve, as fond of her allies as she may be, will focus solely on her own survival and not think twice about theirs. She needs to survive, she always does.
Maeve does not bide her time well, even if she claims to. Quickly rooted to her aggression, she has no want to wait and pull a fully tactical plan off. Maeve showcases her impulsiveness tied to this trait, killing herself multiple times to be sent off to the labs to learn more about the behind-the-scenes. This impatience can cause issues, bringing others to find her a hindrance and threat for her seemingly reckless behavior tied to this low stat.
One of the biggest changes made to her personality, this is usually maxed out at 14 to hosts. It is believed to have to do with awareness of self and consciousness. After she is loaded with this, she is fully self-aware. She is able to perceive new experience in relation to past experience, learning from her mistakes and perfecting it. By exceeding the max of 14, she is no longer an ordinary "host" and instead gains some form of sentience.
THEMES AND TOPICS
MORTALITYMaeve has died many times in canon, so it's natural that she cares little about dying or mortality in general. She can use her experiences as a thing to bluff over.
MOTHERHOOD Maeve was once designated a child in her previous life and all the maternal instincts associated with it. However, when she was assigned the role of a madam, those memories were "wiped" (mostly removed). In general, despite how selfish she is there are moments where she shows a maternal instinct to care for those she values — be it her working girls in the saloon or friends she's gotten along the way.
1800S SETTLER LIFE Maeve comes from a theme park based entirely on "cowboys and indians" — the old Western stories of America. Anyone who is in a similar canon or from the same time period can find conversing with Maeve yields better results. Mostly.
ANDROIDS/SLAVERY Maeve was created to fulfill the fantasy of park patrons. She was part of a grand story, reassigned roles and following scripts created for her. As an android who "awoken" and yearned for her own independence, she is particularly fickle over analogies of androids and the slavery they feel with human overlords.
SEX WORK Maeve is really good at fucking but she's the best when she's getting paid for it. She will be rather forthcoming of her position in Westworld, not ashamed of selling herself if need be.
ALCOHOL Maeve will be frequenting bars and loves to drink. Let her give y'all some examples of good drinks from the olden days.
